Last year’s two-day convention included everything from Griffith Park’s “Terror Train” (which is much more fun than it is terrifying) to Halloween cookies and black cats for your front lawn. There was also a live, full stage production of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”, courtesy of classic theatre company Wicked Lit, that managed to startle the daylights out of a number of audience members. This year’s ScareLA will include candy-making classes and Halloween party tricks, if you’re less hardcore but still love a family-oriented Halloween.
Lora says ScareLA 2014 literally takes things to another level this weekend. They’ll have a whole extra floor of classes and programmng, a first-time makeup showcase by horror makeup artist Larry Bones (he’s Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” makeup artist) and a separate upstairs area that will host a Saturday-night costume party! And you are cordially invited to come in costume–even if you can’t make the party.
Doors open at 11 tomorrow, and you’re encouraged to be in the lobby at The Reef (the former L..A. Mart, at Broadway near Washington) to check in early.
Besides, if the “pre-show” is like last year, you won’t want to miss the scary music anyway.
