Getting to make cool stuff for Valentine’s Day is fun.
Getting to make cool stuff that flies, walks across the floor, lights up, whirrs and maybe even sings–and is also for Valentine’s Day–is awesome.
And this Saturday, February 3, we’re looking forward to talking with three special guests about STEAM-oriented Valentine creativity, during our “My Tech-y Valentine” panel!
Play-Well TEKnologies‘ Los Angeles area manager Michael Luong, Play-Well TEKnologies’ senior Los Angeles instructor James Castellanos and maker/STEAM enthusiast Mitchell Malpartida will be joining us for a discussion of some of the amazing things we can make for Valentine’s Day–and beyond–using imagination plus science, technology, engineering, art and math.
The discussion panel, starting at noon at Pipe & Thimble Bookstore in Lomita, runs till 12:45 and is free.
We’ll be talking all about robotics, engineering and making, as they relate to art and creativity–and kids! Play-Well TEKnologies is an organization, created in 1997, which teaches students, grades K through 8, engineering principles through LEGO projects.
And Mitchell Malpartida is an educator, technology expert, an ardent maker AND a dad. He enjoys teaching his young STEAM enthusiasts to use imagination plus STEAM resources, to have a great time making things and “hacking”.
As with our previous Over Coffee® steam events, you’ll get to ask questions and chat with our guests. And afterwards, Michael, James and Mitchell will be teaching some free hands-on workshops!
AND–we’ll wrap up the day by playing a seriously addictive, STEAM-oriented game that’s all about music.
“Educational” was never so much fun when we were smaller kids. But this is going to be a blast! Come if you can.
“My Tech-y Valentine” is a free event, happening Saturday, February 3 from noon to approximately 4:30 pm at Pipe & Thimble Bookstore, 24830 Narbonne Avenue at 250th Street in the city of Lomita. Come when you can and stay as long as you like! Here’s the link for tickets.
