Just two more days.
This Friday, STEAM Carnival SF opens at San Francisco’s Pier 48, for three days of a “reimagined carnival” that combines science, technology, engineering, art and math.
2015 marks the second edition of STEAM Carnival, which premiered last year in San Pedro.
So, what exactly is STEAM Carnival? A fantastic time, an educational experience that doesn’t feel like one, a carnival that incorporates science, technology, engineering, art and math?
Yes, yes, and yes.
Two Bit Circus CEO Brent Bushnell recalls a carnival he visited, as a child, which ultimately inspired him–and his team of engineering “wizards”–to take that framework and present information in a new and innovative way.
The result is a mix of robots, musical performances, lasers and other cool inventions, demonstrating the ways “technology and spectacle interact”, as Two Bit Circus’s website says.
Currently, according to their email, the STEAM Carnival crew are onsite at Pier 48, making over the 100,000-square-foot space to accommodate lasers, robots, games, and lots of “having-fun-without-realizing-you’re learning” experiences.
And if these pictures from last year’s STEAM Carnival are any indication, this is going to be a not-to-be missed great time!
Oh–and there’s excellent news. Even if you can’t make this year’s STEAM Carnival in San Francisco, you may want to put it on your next-year’s calendar. Two Bit Circus has just received funding to take STEAM Carnival on national tour in 2016!
