Have you wanted to know how to create virtual-reality experiences?
As in: games, VR training or otherwise? But no one course tells you all about where to start–and where to go from there? Or what you might do to translate that knowledge into an income eventually
Purely by accident, I’ve found an online course that’s geared towards doing that.I’m currently enrolled in Justin Barnett’s VR Creators Academy–and love it.
And Justin is having a Black Friday sale–where the course price is 75% off this Friday, November 25th! Which is great because, if your budget is like mine, you may have looked at other VR courses and thought, “Maybe…”…Only to get to the price, and conclude, “Maybe not!”
A gift-giving possibility?
Often, when you’re giving a gift to someone “hard to buy for”, the answer can be: an experience.
Show tickets, registration for a special event or planning a day together, doing something fun, all come to mind.
Or–maybe learning something new together? Since this is an asynchronous course, getting to learn and create with someone you love could be a thought!
The course itself
Perhaps the nicest thing about the VR Creators Academy–besides the fact that there’s lots of great information offered in small installments–is the community.
We have weekly online meetups (Saturday mornings) where people discuss current projects, the trends in the XR industry and what they’re working on. As a beginner, I’ve been shy about asking questions but people have been very welcoming and helpful. So far, we’ve set up to build a project in Unity, had a lot of fun, bite-sized lessons (videos average between 7 and 15 minutes in length) and students who would like to grow further are working together on a collaborative project.
And even C# coding isn’t intimidating, with Justin explaining, step by step, how to write a line of code and make it work in a small, fun game project.
An exciting aspect of the course, as well, is that it’s in beta.
Now, why is that “exciting”?
Participants give feedback–and the course gets tailored accordingly. And several new instructors have joined to cover different aspects of VR development.
See what you think! Here, once again, is that affiliate link if you’d like to check it out, this Friday, November 25th, and see what’s being offered.
Most importantly though? Have a very Happy Thanksgiving, and a safe holiday.
