There were classes and workshops throughout this first day of ScareLA. Young “monsters” could find out how to make fifteen costumes out of a bedsheet, carve a pumpkin or make a Dia de Los Muertos mask. Bigger “kids” had a good time with tombstone carving, neighborhood haunt creation and this zombie makeup class by professional makeup artist Bloody Mary.
A stand-out favorite was today’s presentation called “Meet the Krampus” by Krampus Los Angeles Directors Al Ridenour and Al Guerrero. They explained the Krampus folklore, how some of it is reflected in American culture (like the old song, “Ghost Riders In the Sky”), and talked about some special events they’ll be doing this Christmas season, as they celebrate the Krampus!
