What does inspiration look like?
This Saturday, you’ll be able to see dozens of answers to that question.
Southern California’s emerging Maker Movement will be on full display all day Saturday, November 8, as SoCal Maker Con–the region’s largest maker convention–comes to the Pomona Fairplex.
According to SoCal Maker Con’s website, there will be speakers throughout the day, on topics including maker education, robotics, crowdfunding and 3D printing. Robots are set for a face-off in a “Robot Throwdown”. Scheduled exhibitors include maker space workshops, creators re-imagining the experiences of music and art, robot designers, educators and students (one educational program is listed as tuition-free!), self-described “mad scientists”, and even one group that says they have, literally, re-invented the wheel. And expect to see some very cool quadcopters–also known as drones–in live demos, as these “flying robots” take to the sky.
Hello, future–you’re looking intriguing.
So Cal Maker Con runs from 9 am to 5 pm. this Saturday, November 8 at Pomona Fairplex, 1101 West McKinley Avenue, west of North White Avenue, in Pomona. According to their website, in addition to ticket sales, they are still accepting volunteer applications, and require a minimum four-hour volunteer time commitment.
