Carol Chrysong, President/Founder, Lucky Duck Rescue and Sanctuary
Carol Chrysong spends her days not only refuting a myth, but dealing with its effects.
For decades, people have believed that all tame ducks eventually need to be “set free”. Hollywood has reinforced that belief, and it persists–even if the ducks have been pets for years.
As President and Founder of the Sun Valley-based nonprofit Lucky Duck Rescue and Sanctuary, Carol rescues and tends abused and abandoned domestic ducks. Between schools raising ducklings as class projects, and the sale of live ducklings around Easter, the need for her services is all-too-prevalent.
During a visit at her Lucky Duck Rescue and Sanctuary, Carol talked about her work, introduced some of her residents and explained the nature of ducks, and discussed the changes she’s working to make, in both current legislation and the way ducks are perceived by the general public.
