Alice Crespo, founder and director of Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC, has been making her dreams happen for more than thirty years.
Those dreams include giving back to the community by improving the quality of life for Americans with disabilities.
Alice is both a retired Supreme Court translator and the author of the book Never Be Discouraged: With God, All Things Are Possible. In 1982, she created her nonprofit, which is now celebrating thirty-two years of providing social events, assistance and services to disabled New Yorkers.
Alice talked about her experiences and the ways Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC continues to build community–and offered advice for anyone who would like to start a similar organization in their own area.
