Over Coffee® is on hiatus through the Christmas holidays. We’ll be rebroadcasting some of our most popular episodes of 2017. Thank you for listening–and be sure to be with us for our coverage of CES 2018!
Local Roots Farms founder and CEO Eric Ellestad is combining ancient knowledge with cutting-edge technology.
His indoor farming company uses LED lighting, sensors and hydroponics in its proprietary growing system. Local Roots Farms delivers turnkey “Terra Farms” to clients including universities, hospitals and community centers.
Despite the twenty-first century look, Eric says, indoor farming existed thousands of years ago. At Make in LA’s Toolbox LA lunchtime event, in March he explained to his audience that the Ancient Babylonians discovered indoor farming, as one of the seven wonders of the world.
Eric talked about his background, shared the story of Local Roots Farms and discussed his plans to expand Local Roots Farms.
On this edition of Over Coffee® you’ll hear:
How Eric developed his startup to meet the challenges of modern farming with cutting-edge technology;
How this technology works to give plants the optimum growing environment;
Some of the research Eric did, in developing his indoor farming systems;
